The 673 chainsaw followed the 674 as an even more compact and ergonomically perfected counterpart to its larger brother. This saw eliminates the transmission found in the 674 in favor of a direct drive motor which increases the chain speed. Coupled with a shorter bar than 674, it is a potent mix of maneuverability and power.
The industrial design and 3D surfacing on this program were able to take advantage of large pieces of the previously designed 674 chainsaw. This efficient data reuse not only saved time throughout the design process, but also gives these saws a family look and nearly identical functional layout for a user who might swap between them during the work day.
