This project challenged our team to package a powerful drivetrain in the most ergonomically optimal package. We spent a great deal of time tuning in the position of the handle and the battery insertion to ensure the center of gravity of the tool felt as natural in hand as possible.
Top handle chainsaws are typically utilized by arborists hanging from limbs high up in trees. This extreme user demands high performance and reliability, while also providing some unique design constraints. Due to the precarious nature of the work, arborists often use these saws with one hand. We specifically designed the main grip, trigger, and LED display board to all be usable by the users primary hand.
